Cherish Anderson, RN-CEN, Receives DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses
January 31, 2025
Rutherford Regional Health System is proud to announce that Cherish Anderson, RN-CEN, has been honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation’s mission to meaningfully celebrate extraordinary, compassionate nurses, capturing those moments unique to nursing that make a profound difference in the lives of people around the world.
Cherish, a dedicated nurse in the Emergency Room at Rutherford Regional Medical Center, has been a nurse for 13 years. Known for her unwavering passion for nursing and her commitment to her patients’ well-being, Cherish exemplifies the heart and soul of compassionate healthcare. Her thoughtful approach to patient care and her ability to provide comfort during the most challenging times are just a few of the qualities that set her apart. In addition to her role as a nurse, Cherish is also a devoted mother to five children and wife to Nick Anderson.
Nomination:
“My aunt was brought in by ambulance to Rutherford Hospital. She was very, very sick, but we had no understanding of the extent of her sickness. Cherish Anderson was her nurse from the moment she entered until her subsequent death later that evening. I cannot say enough good things about this beautiful soul. Not only did she do her job and do it well, but the extent this woman went above and beyond to serve our family during a very dark hour can just not properly be described in words. I have thought of many words to describe her since that day and they include: talented, devoted, amazing, sweet and so many more, but all of the words that come to my mind seem too small to describe how she made our family feel. Most notably, that she stayed 2 1/2 hours beyond her shift to “see us through” to the end. Her devotion to our family in that moment seemed as if my aunt was the only patient she was seeing after at the time. I am keenly aware that was untrue, but that’s how she made us feel. She explained everything being done, she was there when needed, but with an amazing awareness of those times when she just needed to step out of the room and let us be. She is so deserving of whatever honor this award would bestow, and yet no award could ever be enough. Truly.”
