RRHS to host Mommy + Me Festival October 15

Rutherford Regional Health System’s (RRHS) The Birth Place will host a day of family fun on Oct. 15. The Mommy + Me Festival will be held from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Pavilion on Park Square (POPS) in Forest City, and will feature a day of family-friendly fun for children ages 0-12, moms, moms-to-be, and women of all ages.
“The Birth Place is excited to be able to provide this special event for our community,” said Sherry McIntosh, director of The Birth Place at RRHS. “We look forward to sharing information about our services, other services available to moms and expecting moms in our area, and also bring our teams out to have fun and celebrate with the families we serve in and around Rutherford County.”
The Mommy + Me Festival will feature a day full of entertainment and activities, including mom and child music therapy groups led by Upbeat Music Therapy, mom and child and prenatal yoga classes led by instructor Julia Petty, games, education, and stuffed animal check-ups provided by Rutherford Regional Children’s Care pediatricians, Mommy and Me Portraits by Be Bold Studios, kid’s jams by DJ Michael Sprouse, balloon animals, face painting, special character visits and more.
Food and treats will be available for sale at the event, along with jewelry, clothing, accessories, and crafted items and gifts, and children can enjoy games and activities as well as inflatables throughout the day. Raffle prizes will be drawn throughout the day, with giveaways including car seats and strollers, baby accessories, new mom gifts, gift cards, kids’ toys, cabin stays and more.
Vendors include Luneau Holistic Wellness, Hands of Hope for Life, Foothills Health District, Vintage Valley Clothing, Evie Lane Crochet, Gold River Camp, Mad Love Vinyl, Carolina Chiropractic, Rutherford Life Services, Hispanic Alliance, Pisgah Legal Services, Lake Lure Classical Academy, Trinity Christian School, Dream Weavers Dance Studio, Her Village Doula Services, and more.
“We love every opportunity to give back to the community we serve, and this is a great chance for us to bring families together, celebrate them, get to know them on a more personal level, and also provide education and resources in a centralized, relaxed environment,” said Tory Shepherd, interim CEO for RRHS. “We invite everyone — moms, dads, children, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins alike — to come join us at the Mommy and Me Festival.”
